Abena is an African cushion cover with a paisley pattern. With the colours blue and white it reminds more of Holland than of Africa. In fact the fabric was designed and produced in Ghana by ATL. The reason for this is the long history of Ghanaian fabrics, which started in Holland. The fabric is light and fine woven and is perfect for summer use. We can imagine this beautiful pillowcase for example on a cosy wooden bench in the garden. Abena measures 40 x 40 centimetres and is easily opened and closed with a zip. The pillowcase itself was handmade by our partners "Alex & Francis".
Most Mawulo pillowcases are given typical African names. So we have chosen Abena for this pillowcase. Afia is a typical name for in Ghana from the Akan language. In Ghana it is a tradition to give the first name depending on the day of the week on which one was born. Typically Abena is a girl born on a Tuesday.
